To switch things up a bit from our usual UFC fight nights, we decided to hold it at 72 Sports Bar & Restaurant, located in downtown Vancouver. Prior to the UFC 79 party I have never been here before. It’s named after the year 1972 when Team Canada beat Team CCCP (Soviet Union) to claim the title of greatest hockey nation.
Being a sports bar I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they have pretty good food too. I had a delicious Montreal Smoked Deli Sandwich, loaded with corned beef, gobs of melted cheese and sauerkraut. This being the season to get fat, I also went with the fresh (made in-house) chocolate chip cheesecake.
Instead of being smart and going home after the fights, I was pressured by my peers to go out and drink . . . far too much.
We jumped in a taxi and took off to some local drinking holes. First off was Irish bar The Blarney Stone, then to Republic and finished off at Barnone. Good thing I took pictures so I can remember what happened.
I’m getting too old for this, but apparently I had a great time
No more drinking until my 4th Annual 29th Birthday weekend, which is about twenty days away ![]()
