UFC 77: Hostile Territory

Tonight is another action-packed fight card for UFC 77: Hostile Territory!

It takes place at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Tonight’s main event is a rematch between Anderson Silva and Rich Franklin for the World Middleweight Champion title belt. Silva dominated their last match-up where Franklin lost his championship title after having his nose rearranged by Silva’s devastating knee strike.

We’ll see if Franklin has what it takes to prove that he still belongs in the UFC as he tries to reclaim his belt from Silva.

Another non-title belt, featured event is between heavyweights Tim Sylvia and Brandon Vera. Don’t know much about Vera (except that he has a perfect, undefeated MMA record) but the 6-foot 8-inch Silvia has been trying get fight his way back up to a title belt match-up. He misses his Championship belt. I swear he used to wear it everywhere ;)

The match that I’m actually looking forward to the most is Canadian boy Jason Macdonald versus Yushin Okami. Macdonald came out of nowhere to win some key UFC fights and has made a name for himself as an impressive technical fighter. Okami is a fighter with a long and successful career in Pride, K1 and other organizations. Since fighting in the UFC he has won all his fights except his last bout against none other than Rich Franklin. Franklin won the decision against Okami at UFC 72.

Watch for my UFC fight recap later tonight or tomorrow, I’m going to hit the sack early as I have to make my appearance at the Vancouver Science Fiction, Fantasy and Gaming Convention , VCON 32, tomorrow morning.
