UFC 72: Victory

This last Saturday’s UFC event was a bit of a weird one. It took place in Belfast, Ireland at the Odyssey Arena, making it the second UFC in a row to take place in the United Kingdom. The last UFC took place in Manchester, England. Due to the time differential, it aired here on the Pacific North West at twelve noon. Some of my fellow UFC associates found it to be too early a time, so it was recorded and we viewed it at our regular 7pm time slot ;)

Once again, the new up-and-comers proved to be far more entertaining than the main event with some great battles forged in the octagon. Special mention goes to Clay Guida and Tyson Griffin, who battled back and forth for all three rounds to a debatable win for Griffin. Here’s the other results:

I completed forgot about this latest event, although I have yet to actually order one of the PPVs. But I usually check for the results online.

This coming weekend is the free event that will feature Jens Pulver vs. BJ Penn and I will be watching that one.

I am surprised with the outcome with Franklin. Too close for my liking. I love the stand up approach more than the ground. Easier to tell who should get the win. Crappy time zone though. Oh well. Good fights.
