Starship Troopers 3: Marauder

It’s been a while since I updated this site.  Been really busy working on various shows, just finished a week of night shoots on Reaper as a demon MMA fighter, performed some stunt driving on a low budget movie, and getting ready to head off for Kamloops to film a big budget movie.

I finally had some time off to kick back and relax so I rented some movies.  To my surprise, they made a third sequel to the cult favorite Starship Troopers.

Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation was a big disappointment as they tried, and failed, to break into a more serious horror/sc-fi genre.

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder returns to it’s campy B-movie roots with director Paul Verhoeven and Casper Van Dien makes his grand re-entry as Johnny Rico, who is now a colonel.  Ten years later and Casper doesn’t look a day older.  ST3 Marauder also stars Enterprise hotty Jolene Blalock, who looks like a hotter, less-pregnant and married Angelina Jolie.  She is just too fine :)

Just like Robocop, another Verhoeven concoction, some of the most entertaining parts were the cheesy, sexual innuendo-filled commercials inserted throughout the film.  Do you get good HED?

Apparently ST3 Marauder is the closest interpretation to the Heinlein books they are based on and focuses more on the religious aspect of the war with the arachnids.  The large mechs also make a brief appearance at the end and seems to indicate that there will likely be a Starship Troopers 4 in the works.

Gratuitous violence and nudity is back on the menu.  I had a good laugh when the Maruaders team were getting scanned for their mechs and it reminded me of a naked Power Rangers scene.

If you enjoyed the first Starship Troopers I think you’ll like Marauder.  It’s not as good as the first but just remember to turn off your brain and understand that it’s a movie that’s not afraid to make fun of itself.

The Sky Marshal in ST3 Marauder is named Omar Anoke and has an album out called “Anoke Live!”

I can’t get this catchy tune out of my head.  Enjoy!

The nudity and Jolene Blalock automatically upgrades this film from ok to good :)

The first one was alright. I avoided the second Starship Troopers movie but I might give this one a chance.

I would say that the third one is better than the second, but not as good as the first ..its happen with most of sequel movies ..sigh

Yes, if Jolene Blalock wanted to play, I would volunteer =)

I’m going to wait for this one to make it to the Free Movie Central. Then that way there is something to look forward to watching on that channel…except the last season of Stargate Atlantis. Boo!

I loved Starship Troopers, it’s a camp classic! I’ll be adding this new one to my NetFlix account this evening.

[...] the man with the tattoos finally managed to sit down and relax after a hectic shooting schedule. He reviews the latest Starship Troopers direct to DVD release, and has a couple favourable things to say about it. That’s good, cause [...]

Hmm, I think I’ll probably pass on watching this movie….although, maybe someday, if I’m really bored, hey, it’s got some nudity so it can’t be all bad :P

Anyway, great to hear that you’ve been busy working on some shows, hopefully we will get to see you in them! You mentioned before that you had been working on Samurai Girl, well I watched it (all 6 hours worth) and didn’t see you….were you one of the masked ninjas or something? Or did I just totally miss you?

You totally missed me. I’m one of “Sato’s Goons” (as named on the call sheets). The clearest you see me is when I grab the guy in the alley and stick my knife against his throat.
