Today I am feeling the pain from my Crossfit workout, I have also been working out on my own at home. Took a jog to the local Safeway for groceries (all uphill too!) and did some chin ups and squats at home today to keep motivated. Just got back after a night jog, only a 10 minute one but took it at a nice brisk pace. Got that copper taste again in the back of the throat but at least I don’t feel like puking, although I’m sweating buckets.
Phew! I hope I get some wicked results to show all of you by this summer. I also plan to do this without sacrificing my diet of eat-anything-whenever-I-want. Speaking of which, I have some spaghetti and meatballs waiting for me, good night!

Exercise is only one part of keeping healthy. In the end your diet plays a big part in your overall health so whilst it’s tempting to just eat what you want it will eventually catch up with you though I guess you already know that.
It’d be interesting if anyone knows what exactly that copper taste thing is (a wiki link for more info perhaps?). Since it seems to come with exercise is it just a by product or a sign of unfitness?
You have to understand my crazy genetics though, even though I eat like crap (within moderation of course) and I barely exercised, I gave the illusion of athleticism. Everyone thought I worked out quite regularly, even my recent blood tests showed I was perfectly healthy and my cholesterol levels were normal.
Call it a test if you will, just by exercise alone, I think I can achieve some amazing results. I’m not pretty enough to be a model but perhaps, with some work, I can fool a people into believing I am
Came across the following via a Google search on diabetes.org: “Taste disturbances may be the result of numerous causes. Are you taking a multi-vitamin that contains minerals and in particular copper? Do you live in an area where industrial smoke may contain trace elements of copper? Often nasal and sinus disorders or upper respiratory infections can lead to alterations in taste. Although you may have the taste of copper in your mouth it may actually be something else that is now tasting like that to you. If this continues it is best to check with your physician. Determining a cause for this condition can be difficult.”
I always thought it was from very strenuous exercise on an empty stomach. Leo, do you always experience this or only when exercising on an empty stomach?
The only supplement I take is my multi-vitamin, but I think it may be a by-product of my asthma. As my lungs work overtime to keep my body oxygenated, the capillaries fill with blood from exertion and that’s probably what I’m tasting/smelling. It’s not like I’m actually coughing up blood or anything so it’s okay. I always eat a little before a workout.
Copper taste?? Taking before and after pics are always nice (when you have some good “after results, anyway!)
Pics are something I considered but I’m not ready to post up pics of me in my underwear online just yet
What? Didn’t you do that already when you were playing with your…umm…sword?
well at least your motivated to workout, I haven’t worked out in over a year I think!
Sounds like a fun workout. That type of workout looks interesting and a little difficult. I think I may look into it and see if I can do it.
Leo and Me are going to look like the 300, and run around in capes this Summer
300 was awesome.. but i don’t know if you should do the cape thing
I’m already noticing some great changes, the muscle definition is improving greatly and I am now maintaining the “pump” in the muscles. I look jacked all the time now, lol
Just finished another workout and it was much better, almost threw up again and couldn’t walk for a bit but I made it!
You’re *almost* inspiring me to get off my lazy ass and starting working out again. I’ve been doing limited lifting but that’s just because I don’t want to drop too far off my max bench - it boosts the ego.
