New wordpress plug-ins

Thanks to Stephen, you will now notice that you can respond to any particular comment with threaded comments instead of just commenting at the default bottom. This will help clean up the comments section and make it clearer if you are responding to a particular commentor.

Also, if you are signed up on MyBlogLog, your avatar will show up next to your comment, click on the avatar to be taken to the commentor’s MBL community profile. I always visit the sites of my visitors and I also join their communities if their sites have relevance to mine or I find interesting. Enjoy!

Nice additions to the blog Leo. The threaded comments plugin is great and it really does help give sites more of a forum type feel to them. As for the MyBlogLog avatars, now I get to see my ugly mug on one more site!

Yeah, it helps with the busier posts as well and makes it easier to answer a particular commentor.

My only complaint with it is that on a busy site it can make it more difficult to pick out the new comments since the last time you visited. When there is a list of 50-100 comments, you have to really look for the new comments but I think that I have learned to deal with that.

True, but if you subscribe to email responses, the link usuallypops you straight on the response. I’d be very happy if I was getting 50-100 comments on posts, lol.

One other comment: on the MyAvatars plugin I modified the included style.css file to add some right padding on the thumbnail. If you look at my previous comment, the text is right up against the picture and I didn’t like that. If you are interested in the fix, I added the following to the img.myAvatars definition in the included style.css:

padding-right:5px;

Note, if you were to move the avatars to the right side of the comment box then you would want to add padding-left rather than the right.

Just an FYI for you as I know the squashed spacing was something that annoyed me. Let me know if you have any questions about it if you decide to make that change.

Something to look into, but Stephen Fung deals with all that stuff. I’m hopeless with HTML, I’m learning tho. I just fill the site with content :)

Not a bad arrangement as it seems to be working pretty well.

Spacing is looking much better now.
