I’ve been wanting to buy a new camera for some time and my faithful Pentax Optio S has served me well for several years. Alas, I required a more advanced camera that could take better, faster photos. I had my eye on the Optio A20 originally but it just went discontinued as they are preparing for the release of the new Optio line. Ironically enough, I managed to find the A20’s predecessor, the A10. There was only one left and I snatched it up for only $200. The A10 was the 2006 flagship compact digital camera for Pentax. Although slightly bigger than my old Optio S, it’s selling feature was that it can fit in an Altoids tin can, the A10 is still a nice compact size.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the A10. It may not be the newest and fanciest camera I could get, but for the $200 price tag, I think I did very well
I was on set today at Lions Gate Studios and felt like testing out my new camera. Below are a few test shots I made to show the macro features. Took me a while cause these bugs don’t like staying still.

Hey Dude
1) Nice reading all your posts. My digital cam just spoilt not long ago and am thinking of getting a new one. My old one was a canon powershot and am contemplating to get a limux / panasonic brand.
2) What lured me to your site, has to be your avatar of your tatoo. I just got mine, a tribal bend over my upper arm. Admire your tatoos.
Okay, just to say hi…

Crazy, fits in an altoids box? I’d use that as a case then! Just line it with some nice cloth or thin foam to protect it from bumping around inside!
…and it’ll smell great!
New camera…nice work man! Did you get a deal from your London Drugs insiders or what?
Yeah, I got a great deal because the camera was the last one in the entire chain and is an “old” 2006 model. It was also a demo model and is missing the cd software, manual and charger. It uses the same battery as my old Optio so I’m just using that charger.
Nice camera. Even if it isn’t the oldest it is probably alot better than your old camera. nicejob.
Those pics aren’t bad for the camera. I’ve always been afraid of spending less than $300 for the stability feature on a camera. My friends have had
The regular retail price for my new camera is in the $400 range.
Damn that’s a pretty small digicam. I’m still using a huge & heavy 4-year old Canon PowerShot S45.
Yeah, that was one of my pre-requisites when I bought my Optio S years ago. I like to travel light and it’s handy to have a camera that I can just stick in my pocket without worries. The new A10 is slightly bigger and heavier but takes much better pictures.
As a casual photographer, I don’t need anything fancy.
