I haven’t been on the ice since high school gym class, so when my girlfriend said we were going to a Valentines themed skate day with her daughter I was a little hesitant. I was never much of a skater. I could always go forward, but I couldn’t stop. I am haunted by memories of other kids being thrown around as I frantically grabbed anything around me as a bumper stop.
So there we were today, my girlfriend Tasha and her 5 year old daughter Dahlia, lacing up for an afternoon on the ice at the Bill Copeland ice rink at the Deer Lake Recreational Facility in Burnaby.
Joining us were friends Sasha, Jerry, Sonia and her son Isaac. Sasha was mostly taking care of Isaac, Jerry teaching Sonia how not to fall, Tasha making Dahlia cry, lol. I was there to catch it all on camera for you all to enjoy!
I had to put on Sonia’s big, goofy D&G sunglasses (they matched my toque) as I posed with her son Isaac.
Sonia wasn’t doing so well, despite Jerry’s best efforts.
In fact, all the blondes weren’t doing so well
It’s okay Sonia, you suffer from a poor center of gravity due to your monster 37 inch inseam. Since I had yet to fall, Tasha felt it was her duty to try and take down this Dragon on ice. I promptly fell down on top of her, hehe.
See, this is what happens when a Jewish girl decides to date a Chinese guy. As she falls, her money falls out of her pockets. A mad scramble occurs to retrieve the change, forget about helping the woman up. Tasha’s daughter even gets into it and tries to make off with some coins. Tasha got owned!
Me assuming my speedskater getaway as Tasha does the blond “I’m Number ONE!” salute.
Dahlia and Isaac finish off the afternoon with a Valentine balloon duel.

You are one funny guy there Leo! You just wish you had my “monster inseam” or could track down a pair of glasses that are even half as ridiculously hot as mine.
I had a great time. Even if we were bellini and white russian free.
And I love your lady and her girl- they are amazing!
