I Am Legend: Trailers

i-am-legend.jpg

It’s been a while since I last posted a Hump Day Video, simply because I haven’t found anything worth posting :)

Over the years I’ve been increasingly impressed with the performance and abilities of Will Smith. From his early days as the Fresh Prince, to his transition to television with “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, to the award winning performances on the big screen, Smith does not disappoint. More impressive is his flourishing relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett, and the raising of their son, who is a budding actor himself (Jaden Smith in “Pursuit of Happyness”).

His latest film, “I am Legend” (Release date: December 14, 2007), looks like the latest in original zombie/vampire films produced by Hollywood. I’m sure it won’t disappoint, Smith has an uncanny knack in finding great scripts.

SYNOPSIS - “Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague — The Infected — lurk in the shadows… watching Neville’s every move… waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered… and quickly running out of time.” Written by Warner Bros. Pictures

Will Smith is my “dawg” if you na’w i’ma sayinng…too bad DJ Jazzy Jeff has been slipped under the rug. Poor guy.

But, you are right in saying Will Smith does definitely pick his movies right, which for the most part are really entertaining. He can lighten the mood in scenes and make them humorous without trying. Dum dum diddeeee!

He definitely picks some good scripts these days. I’ll have to check out this movie when it comes out. It’s interesting to see how the characters he plays has changed since the Fresh Prince days.

Yet another zombie movie :P

I hadn’t heard about this movie yet but the plot looks pretty good.

In the book at least they weren’t zombies, they were vampires. I’m guessing the movie will be the same which is why he can run around outside during the day.

This definitely sounds good – I still watch the Fresh Prince on Nick at Nite almost every day, makes me remember my teenage years….lol. Those are long since gone, but just the same he’s an incredible actor.

I have wanted to see this film since the first time I was the trailer. And I agree, Will Smith is one of my favorite actors. He is so versatile, can play comedic roles as well as serious parts.

Interesting side note, did you know his wife Jada is the lead singer of a rock band?

First saw em on Jay Leno and really liked them. Good stuff, if you are into that kind of music…

Will Smith looks suddenly way older. Grey hairs and stuff. Is it make up? Seems like only yesterday he was the fresh prince.

*Shawn – uh, I’ll pass on the music. It’s just her shouting angrily, no real vocal talent there.

*Hone – I believe Will Smith is 39 this year, so he’s not so young anymore.

I’m really looking forward to this one. I hope it does justice to the book, although from what I can gather there are a few plot differences.

Is there a book like this? I’d rather watch it on the movies first just to avoid conflicts of interests and those plot differences like what happened with the Da Vinci Code. Making it in the movies is much easy to comprehend and won’t stress you out.

I Am Legend is a book that was written in the 50’s. The movie is based on the book. It wasn’t a tough read. 170pages in total. I actually wrote a semi-review of it the other day here.

Thanks. It’s not a long book (170pages or so), so even if you don’t have the patience for reading, you should be able to get through it.
