Gun Safety Tip

Every gun enthusiast is constantly hammered with the importance of gun safety: Always assume a gun is loaded until YOU ensure that it is clear and safe, control muzzle direction at all times, finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until ready to fire, safety on - “red is dead” and . . . examine the bore.

Well, this bloke didn’t check the bore of his rifle to ensure that there were no obstructions.

The object in the photo below is called a bore sighting tool. The bore sighting tool is used to align the attachment scope with the rifle’s bore. The tool allows alignment without wasting ammo by conventional calibration methods, allowing you to sight your weapon in an area where discharging a firearm may not be possible.

The poor guy didn’t remove the tool before loading and firing off a round. Ouch!

I received the photos through email, sent by my friend and tattooist (and biker and gun enthusiast, etc.), Thomas Lockhart, so I’m not clear of the details as to where and when this occurred.

That is crazy… I never knew a gun would do that. That is like something you would see in the cartoons when a character sticks an apple on the barrel or something similar… Did the guy recover from the accident?

That had to hurt! Guns and mistakes obviously don’t mix.
