Good Old Comfort Food with my Online Guru

Had a real bad craving for some comfort food today, was gonna go for a “hulk” burger but then fell for the urge of having something truly sinful, Memphis Blues. Memphis Blues is a local restaurant that specializes in true southern BBQ. They have established themselves as BBQ kings in Vancouver and have expanded to 3 locations. They properly slow cook all their food to perfection and their portions have total disregard for your daily calorie count. I called up Dot Com Mogul Stephen and we made plans for him to pick me up and stock up on our blubber.

Some guy ran in to have his photo taken with our food. I’m harshly territorial with two things in my life, my girlfriend and my food. If he so much as dropped a hair in my food I swear I would have stuck a fork in his fucking eye. You can see that I was ready to slam a plate against his head.

The picture above clearly shows our platter, it’s called the Memphis Feast. Boy, and a feast it was. Both Stephen and I had our share of to-go containers with leftovers to feast on for the next day. Mmm, sitting here now blogging away and rubbing my belly. We gotta go get a Hulk burger next time Stephen!

Damn, that does look awfully good but I have to admit it would have been funny to see some pics of you busting that guy upside the head with the plate. As his shirt says, that food looks “fucking awesome”.

Yeah at first I couldn’t really make out what it said but it looked so ridiculous that I had to take a closer look to see what it said.

Memphis Blues is awesome. Sooo much meat.

That dude has a hoodie from Fucking Awesome…possibly the best name for a brand in the history of clothing.

The reference to Memphis caught my eye as I am from Memphis myself (live an hour away now). And I can tell you, if that tasted half as good as it looks, it’d be a great representation of some true Memphis BBQ. If you guys really wanna try some great bbq, id recommend checking out Corky’s BBQ, a Memphis tradition. They are online and even deliver! :)

Mmm, Corky’s looks good. I always wanted to head down south and visit one of those huge BBQ cook-offs I always see on the food channel.
The Memphis Platter is a nice sampler with BBQ chicken, sausage, beef brisket, pulled pork, beef ribs, rib ends, seasoned fries, corn bread, potato salad, coleslaw, beans n’ pork and their special BBQ sauce.

Oh yeah, Memphis in May is held every year at Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis. The event is a month long and has a different theme each week.

The Beale Street Music fest is a Friday, Sat and Sun. event and has over 60 bands performing on 3 stages. I just checked the lineup, some good bands lined up this year, depending on your music tastes: Three 6 Mafia, Godsmack, Hinder, Papa Roach, Edwin McCain, Chris Daughtry…

But the real kicker is the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest…

Sadly enough I have never been, might have to give it a whirl this year :)
