I was waiting to see this match for a long time now. I was really excited to see UFC legend Tito Ortiz take on UFC president Dana White.
I had it recording on my PVR at home because I was out getting my ass pummelled at my Crossfit workout. I almost passed out today during my workout but I pulled through it so I could avoid the hospital to get home and watch this match.
It was planned for 3 full rounds of boxing. I watched the stupid show for one and a half hours to find
out that Tito didn’t show up for the weigh-in. The fight was canceled. Sonovabitch! Now I know why it was free and not PPV.

Hah I wrote about the same thing earlier.. but yeah…
No shit man, I wasted 1 1/2 hours on this show also, waiting for a good fight. And I don’t even blame Tito for not showing up. It wasnt a live event, so him backing out didnt affect anything really. But yet, Dana still decided to promote the fight like it was going to / did happen. Very crummy on his part as president.
Dana White is foul mouthed and immature. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t need to have a potty mouth. He is a role model for the young fighters, but more importantly, for the young kids that are fans. I have absolutely NO respect for him.
He was probably too busy doing Jenna Jameson.
So yeah here’s what went down for me. Got back from CPR class (I had to miss most of the Red Wings game dammit!) then watched TUF5, then realized while watching bad blood, that it was good guy Dana White against a non-existant opponent Tito Ortiz. It should have been called something like “Dana White - Training Day”
After watching that though, i’m really kinda shook up. I’d really taken a liking to Tito after his coaching on TUF. Now he just seems like a dick.
As Shawn said, that really was a dick move on the part of Dana and the UFC to air the show as if there was going to be a fight somewhere in there. While I did enjoy watching Dana train, I really wanted to see them box and the lack of the fight was a letdown.
At least TUF5 was entertaining beforehand.
So it just hit me…. was that Dana’s version of Rocky 6?
[...] UFC 71 had one of the most entertaining fights on the card I’ve seen in a while. All the of the fights were high energy and full of excitement with the fighters giving their all. These are the kind of fights that justify the UFC’s current position as reigning champ of fight entertertainment. UFC 70 was pretty dismal and disappointing so naturally it was a relief to see tonight’s fights bringing back the energy. The fighters fought to win, instead of fighting to not lose, there’s a big difference. [...]
