Back From Whistler, the Loss Prevention Seminar Weekend

I’m in need of some serious detox :)

Despite it being a paid work seminar, I still managed to eat too much good food, drink too much alcohol and indulge in too much debauchery. Good times ;)

London Drugs managed to put together a wonderful weekend Loss Prevention Seminar, well attended by all the company’s loss prevention officers and representatives and speakers from various police departments from across Canada. A charter bus picked me up early Saturday morning and off we were via the Sea to Sky Highway for my Whistler weekend retreat. We were all put up in the Westin Resort & Spa Whistler, I shared a room with a buddy and I let him have the bedroom as I didn’t mind having the extra space in the living room. I had my own TV and a nice fireplace to enjoy, wish I had a nicer room view though as all I could see was a driving range across the street.

The seminar kept us all very busy with a packed schedule of back-to-back speakers, I would have enjoyed some time to relax in-between speakers as it becomes mentally taxing sitting through 10+ hours presentations. However, most of the topics were very informative and entertaining enough to keep us all awake. I guess it’s also the sign of the times when most of the presentations involved video examples a la YouTube.

Of course you can’t forget the main reason most of us love attending these kind of special events . . . free schwag! Especially liked the free hair products, they will come in handy if I ever decide to grow hair ;)

I’m gonna have to hit Crossfit hard this week with all the great food and drink I consumed. The Westin put together a wonderful spread everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

My friend Chris, previously manager of Skybar Vancouver, is currently manager of the popular Buffalo Bill’s in Whistler and took care of my buddy and I on a packed Saturday night. They are looking for a new location for a Buffalo Bill’s Vancouver, I’ll keep you guys updated when the grand opening is announced. There were at least 5 huge stagettes in the club, which made for some entertaining games. I was voted “Best Overall” and “Best Shoulders”. Thank you Crossfit :)

You can see my drunken buddy discretely checking out a girl that asked me to eat her candy necklace. The look on his face is gold, he wouldn’t admit his actions until I showed him the photo. I’ll never let him live it down ;)

Ah good ol LD ;) I like your goody back, what did they do give you things from the left over repacks? lol!

I’ve heard stories from the managers when they go up to Whistler or Victoria for their annual meeting. They were kicked out of one bar in Whistler and banned! Good times!

People at LD were great, I miss a bunch of em.

Hey Leo, did you ever do a shift over at LD15?

I only worked at LD15 a couple of times. I remember I was sent there once to deal with a water leak in the LP office and I ended up catching three shoplifters before leaving.

I love kimchi, I have it with my spicy ramen all the time. Not sure how it would taste if delivered from Korea tho :(

I’ll be home at the end of July, and will be visiting Richmond/Vancouver for sure. We could meet up then for our exchange if you want. ;)

I ran into the whole London Drugs Computer Business Unit at COMPUTEX…and Wynn Powell too…in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt. Small world.

Ah, Whistler. That town is pretty much awesome at any time of the year. I was up on the top of the mountain last summer watching people golfing down below. Craziness. Looks like you had fun.
