*No worries, no spoilers here!
By now I’m sure most of you are sick of reading reviews of the new Transformers movie, but I’m giving you another one with a touch of summer wickedness!
I’ve been reliving my childhood all week anticipating the release of the Transformers film, and after jealously reading reviews from friends Ed, Derek and Gabrielle (who braved the crowds on premiere day) I finally managed to push my way through the throngs of children and adult babies to secure my seat. The crowds were massive despite the movie theatre showing Transformers in an different auditorium every 30 minutes. My best friend Jerry, his girl Sonia, her son Isaac and I had to sit up front and pretty much look up at the screen. I was fighting nausea for the first little bit before the movie started. I was just happy to get a seat, especially after seeing all the people lined up to catch the later shows.
However, I met my nemesis in the form of Isaac, and after a great battle I finally capitulated and gave up my seat to a superior warrior. His mommy Sonia bought me a soft drink and Twizzlers so it was all good
I licked my wounds softly and vowed revenge when we go to watch The Simpsons movie
Despite sitting in break-neck row, I’m very happy I took the time out to watch Transformers in the theatre. The big sound and super-big screen really added to the atmosphere and energy of the film. Expect non-stop action with some surprising moments of comedy throughout the movie to keep you on your toes. Parents may want to beware as the film does have a bit of violence, with people and robots dying (and implied deaths), you may want to keep your little princesses and pansy kids at home
I can’t wait to buy this on the DVD, with films like this you know it’s gonna be packed with extra features. I was a little disappointed to see no marketing displays for Transformers in the lobby. I expected to see at least a giant poster or Optimus head to take a picture with, but I did get a nice photo of the Silver Surfer. I think Fantastic Four 2 is the next movie I should watch since I actually worked on it for several weeks.

Looks like you guys had a good time. I’d recommend Fantastic Four 2 as well, we saw that one a week or two ago and we all enjoyed it. Did your work make it into the movie?
My wife rented Night at the Museum today so I’ll be looking for you in that.
You probably won’t see me in FF2, for the most part I was in a stunt vehicle (yellow taxi cab and white Chrysler 300C) in the Human Torch/Silver Surfer tunnel chase scene and a spec ops soldier in the forest.
I’m all done up as one of Atilla’s Hun soldiers in Night at the Museum. It’s a great family flick, your kids will love it

Lol, we just got done watching Night at the Museum and I think I picked you out of the soldiers but it was hard to tell. It was a good movie and our oldest son really liked it but the youngest fell asleep.
At the very end, where Ben Stiller is making his speech, I am the Hun warrior to his left (camera right). There’s only six of us, Derek! Watch it again and get it right
I had it right then. As we sat down to watch the movie I told my kids and wife that I *knew* someone in this movie and then during that scene I pointed you out and said that I was pretty sure that was you but I wasn’t completely positive. They all just humored me so I would stop talking about it.
I’ve seen FF2 yesterday, fortunately Jessica Alba was pretty nice but overall the movie didn’t really impress me.
Haven’t seen Transformers yet but this photo looks pretty promising: http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0418279/Ss/0418279/T14446EDIT.jpg.html?path=gallery&path_key=0418279

I saw it last night too. I’m still processing the movie in my head, but I do have to say that although it is a reinvention, they play homage to the original series in a whole lot of little ways and leave the ending to a wide open sequel. I have a couple theories, but they will probably be wrong
Yes, I really enjoyed the little inside jokes and references that only fans of the original Transformers cartoons would know.
Nice review…I think I’m going to see that this weekend. I am waiting for Die Hard 4 to be released here on the 17th though!!
Ok, you can no longer poke fun at the fact that my mom beat me at Super Mario Bros…. after all, you got beat up by a little kid! HA
Truce?!
What!?! You see the pipes on that boy? The look of pure rage? He’s an ANIMAL!!!
I thought the Transformers movie was absolutely amazing - even my girlfriend who has never watched the show in her life left the movie saying we were so buying this movie in HD when it comes out.
I also see that your theater is like ours here at the beach as has the highly collectible Silver Surfer actually out in the lobby - I would much rather have the simpsons couch in my house personally.

Yeah, the DVD should be amazing with all the special features. I have a nice HD 50inch LCD widescreen with 5.1 surround sound so i don’t think I’ll be missing out too much from the theatre experience
Although my neighbors will hate me.
Umm… What happened to Homer’s arms? :O
Yeah, we were wondering too. I think he was originally sitting on the far left side and people broke him
The transformers was a great movie! Ah where did homers arms go?
